Looking through the light to see the darkness
Good Day yall! How is everyone doing? (yes i expect an answer). So i havent blogged in a week because ive been busy and lazy all contributed to the lack of posting! So Christmans time is here the music, the lights, the trees, the shopping, and of course all the jolly people :P LOL But i did get to go see the homeslice :) And tried to build a ginger bread house but that failed so baddd lol:)So Lets get to it :)
The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God's desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, "Go and do likewise."
For over 40 years, Samaritan's Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ's command by going to the aid of the world's poor, sick, and suffering. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Our emergency relief programs provide desperately needed assistance to victims of natural disaster, war, disease, and famine. As we offer food, water, and temporary shelter, we meet critical needs and give people a chance to rebuild their lives.
Our community development and vocational programs in impoverished villages and neighborhoods help people break the cycle of poverty and give them hope for a better tomorrow.
We impact the lives of vulnerable children through educational, feeding, clothing, and shelter programs that let them know they are not forgotten.
We provide first-class treatment in the Name of the Great Physician through our medical projects, as well as supplying mission hospitals with much needed equipment and supplies.
As our teams work in crisis areas of the world, people often ask, "Why did you come?" The answer is always the same: "We have come to help you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ." Our ministry is all about Jesus—first, last, and always. As the Apostle Paul said, "For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake" (2 Corinthians 4:5, NIV).

Blog Post: President Obama on the Federal Pay Freeze: "Getting This Deficit Under Control is… http://goo.gl/fb/tU0ow So Yeah there should be a new poll up later tonight :)
So this weeks cause :)
What is Habitat for Humanity International?
- A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry.
- We seek to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
- To accomplish these goals, we invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
- Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller, along with his wife, Linda.
How does it work?
- Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner (partner) families.
- Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
- Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans.
- The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.
- Families in need of decent shelter apply to local Habitat affiliates.
- The affiliate’s family selection committee chooses homeowners based on their level of need, their willingness to become partners in the program and their ability to repay the loan.
- Every affiliate follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection.
- Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.
- Community-level Habitat for Humanity offices that act in partnership with and on behalf of Habitat for Humanity International.
- Each affiliate is an independently run, nonprofit organization.
- Each affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area—fundraising; building site selection; partner family selection and support; house construction; and mortgage servicing.
- Worldwide, nearly 90 countries and in all 50 states of the United States, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico. Use our search engine to find local affiliates and connect with Habitat in your community.
- Our operational headquarters are located in Americus, Georgia, USA.
- Our administrative headquarters are located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
- Donations, whether to a local Habitat affiliate or to Habitat for Humanity International, are used as designated by the donor.
- Gifts received by HFHI that are designated to a specific affiliate or building project are forwarded to that affiliate or project.
- Undesignated gifts are used where most needed and for administrative expenses.
- HFHI’s most recent audited financial statement is available online.
- An ecumenical, international board of directors determines policy and oversees and guides the mission of Habitat for Humanity International.
- Board members are dedicated volunteers who are deeply concerned about the problems of poverty housing around the world.
- The HFHI headquarters office operates with an administrative staff, assisted by a core group of professional and support employees and supplemented by volunteers.
- Each local Habitat affiliate is managed by its own local volunteer board.
- Our Government Relations and Advocacy team works with legislators and housing regulators to increase support for affordable homeownership and eliminate poverty housing.
- We monitor public policies related to housing, community and international development.
- We advocate policy choices that increase access to decent, affordable housing for people around the world.
- We accept government funds for infrastructure, utilities, capacity building or training, and house building. We accept these funds so long as they have no conditions that would violate Habitat’s principles or limit its ability to proclaim its Christian identity.
- Habitat affiliates start when concerned citizens of diverse backgrounds come together to address the problem of poverty housing in their community.
- These volunteers research the community’s affordable housing needs and resources and evaluate the potential success of Habitat’s self-help model in their community.
- The group then applies to HFHI to become an official Habitat affiliate.
- If you are interested in eliminating poverty housing in your community, please call (800) HABITAT or (800) 422-4828. Those calling from outside the United States may contact HFHI headquarters at 01-229-924-6935.
- Use our search engine to find your local Habitat for Humanity and their volunteer opportunities.
- Explore our Get Involved section.
Through any of the following methods:
- Explore our Contact Us page.
- Write to Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498, USA.
- Call 1 (800) 422-4828.

The Cause of the week!

For many years, a number of branches had collected food for the needy as part of their community service effort. Discus sions were held by the NALC, U.S. Postal Service and AFL-CIO Community Services Department to explore a coordinated effort. A pilot drive was held in 10 cities in October, 1991, and it proved so successful that work began immediately on making it a nationwide effort.Input from food banks and pantries suggested that late spring would be the best time since by then most food banks in the country start running out of donations received during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday periods.A revamped drive was organized for May 15, 1993—the second Saturday in May—with a goal of having at least one NALC branch in each of the 50 states participating. The result was astounding. More than 11 million pounds of food was collected—a one-day record in the United States—involving more than 220 union branches. From Alaska to Florida and Maine to Hawaii, letter carriers did double duty—delivering mail and picking up donations. It just grew and grew from that point. So that is the cause i have chosen to support this week!!!!!!!! Mark your calendar now for the 19th Annual NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!![]() :) So i have a question to ask everyone ? If you clock could make a noise other than tik tok what would you have it be and why????????? Word of the Day!! Werewolf
: a person transformed into a wolf or capable of assuming a wolf's form So thats all folks have a good one? |
